Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I bought my first SLR with my grant cheque, and from that moment, my camera went everywhere with me. I even set up a spare bedroom darkroom to develop my black-and-white photos! Life got busier as I became an electronics design engineer, got married, and later retrained as a teacher, but photography was always there in the background, waiting for the right moment to take center stage again.
The digital era was that moment. I embraced digital photography, upgrading from a simple compact camera to my Canon 5D MkII, MkIV and now a Canon R6MkII with a 200-800mm lens, along with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I also discovered a love for restoring old photos and even took on the nerve-wracking challenge of shooting my first wedding for a close friend.
But my true passion lies in wildlife photography. Whether capturing the beauty of nature here in the UK or traveling to places like Kenya, South Africa, and Costa Rica, I love the challenge of photographing animals in their natural habitats. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of waiting for the perfect shot, whether it’s a fleeting moment of eye contact with a big cat or a bird in mid-flight.
Alongside photography, I’ve always had an interest in technology. I’ve built websites using HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, and WordPress, and more recently, I’ve added video editing to my creative toolkit using Final Cut Pro. I now share my work through my website and YouTube channel, always eager to learn more and refine my skills.
For me, photography is about capturing moments, telling stories, and constantly growing as a creator. I’m excited to keep exploring, learning, and sharing my passion with others!
